On 4 May 2022, Andrew Poxon and Mike Dillon of Leonard Curtis were appointed as Joint Administrators of North East Warrington Credit Union (NEWCU) Limited (‘the Company’ or ‘NEWCU’) by the members of the committee of the society and the credit union has now stopped trading.

Members of the credit union should be assured that their money is safe. The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) declared the Company in default on 4 May 2022 which means it can step in and return money to members. In the vast majority of cases, members will receive their savings within 7 days of the date FSCS declared the credit union in default.
